I have had an interest in woodworking since the 7th grade. The first project I remember making was a table lamp which I turned on a wood lathe. It turned out so well that I was hooked from then on. I took additional wood Lee Swindelclasses in high school and college, and eventually graduated with a degree in Industrial Technology. I taught Woodworking, Cabinetmaking, Drafting, Engineering Drawing, and Architectural Design Classes for 33 years. The last 20 years of teaching I incorporated the use of computers and the AUTOCAD Program to aide in the design of projects and buildings.

More About Woodworking:

Woodworking is a broad field which incorporates the construction of buildings, boats, cabinets, furniture, etc. My main focus for this web site is to explain how to make furniture, office equipment, cabinets, desks and toys, as well as many other miscellaneous wood and home remodeling projects. These projects incorporate the use of hand tools, machines, computers, and other equipment necessary to design, layout, cut, shape, assemble, and finish wood projects.

These projects will require the knowledge and use of a planer, jointer, mortise machine, various saws, sanders, drills, nail guns, clamps, and other machines and tools. The use of fasteners, hinges, glues, sandpaper, fillers, stains and finishes is also an integral part of woodworking. People who would find this website useful would include all those who have a desire to work with wood. It would include professional woodworkers, such as finish carpenters, furniture makers, cabinetmakers, etc. It would also be of interest for the vocational person who just wants to design and make wood projects or crafts for a hobby.
